By welcoming turncoats like Swami Prasad Maurya, why Akhilesh may be repeating BJP’s Bengal mistake
Talking at Panchayat Aaj Tak on Monday, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav asserted that various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) pioneers were connecting with him or his partners for political race tickets. Akhilesh Yadav offered a guidance to his party individuals and partners: “Keep a participation structure with you and when a BJP pioneer comes to you, enlist the person in question in our party.”
On Tuesday, Akhilesh Yadav posted a tweet inviting Swami Prasad Maurya into the Samajwadi Party. Maurya was a compelling priest in the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, and a strong BJP pioneer.
He joined the BJP in 2016, having gone against the Akhilesh Yadav government’s strategy for a long time, 2012-16, as the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
