"Sit Down With Me": Ukraine President Calls For Direct Talks With Putin

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the West on Thursday to increase military assistance to Ukraine, said Russia would advance throughout Europe instead.

“If you don’t have the power to cover the sky, then give me a plane!” Zelensky said at a press conference. “If we are no more, God forbid, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia will be the next one,” he said, adding: “Believe me.”

He asked the direct talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, said it was “the only way to stop this war.”

“We did not attack Russia and we did not plan to attack him. What do you want from us? Leave our land,” he said, handling Putin.

“Sit with me. Just not 30 meters away with (French President Emmanuel Macron),” said the Ukrainian leader, referring to Putin who received world leaders at a very famous table.

Zelensky – who was only a few weeks ago trying to calm Ukraine on US charges that Russia planned to attack his country – said: “No one thinks that in the modern world, a man can behave like a wild animal.”

Putin launched an invasion to Ukraine last week.

Russia said it did not target civil regions despite the opposite proof.

Ukraine on Wednesday said Russian aircraft hit the school, killing nine people, in the northern city of Chernihiv.

Kyiv said more than 350 civilians had been killed since Putin launched an invasion.
