BMW to join EV party in India with three cars in next six months: Report

BMW reportedly planned to drive three electric vehicles in India in the next six months. BMW President India and CEO of Vikram Paha confirmed this development to the PTI news agency and underlined that the next big boost for luxury brands in the country would be powered by a battery.

It was reported that BMW would first drive in its flagship electric SUV, next month with the launch date scheduled for December 11. This will be followed by the All-Electry hatchback under the mini brand. Next will be an all-electric i4 sedan. “We take offensive products to the next level and the entire attack is intended for pure electrical mobility,” Paha said as quoted.

BMW can be late to the electricity movement in a luxurious room with Mercedes-Benz being the first and has launched EQC at the end of 2019. The next Jaguar with the launch of I-PACE earlier this year. Audi comes third but now has the largest electrical portfolio among luxury brands in this country.

Each of the three luxury manufacturers – Mercedes, Jaguar and Audi – bring each product through import routes. Each also claims that the response is strong. But Indian BMW arming himself will only intensify competition in a very niche room.

Therefore IX has the potential to act as a catalyst. Globally, scheduled for sale at the end of the year which means the company also prioritizes the Indian car market.

Supported by two electric motors, BMW IX can reach 100 kmph of the stationery in 6.1 seconds. This will be offered in two model variants. Both are equipped with an all-wheel-drive electric system with power ranging from 326 hp and 423 hp. The estimated range can be between 425 km and 630 km depending on the variant and other real world factors.

The BMW I4 electric sedan can also provide encouragement for companies, not only in India and throughout the world. This car has been designed with inspiration from BMW I Vision Dynamics, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017. Supported by a Lithium-Ion 81.5 KWh battery, BMW I4 can run up to 590 km with one charging.
