Delhi: Many shops gutted in fire at Chandni Chowk market
A gigantic fire broke out at Delhi’s Chandni Chowk market almost immediately Thursday. Fortunately, no losses were accounted for.
As per Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the burst began from a shop at the Lajpat Rai market inverse Red Fort. Atul Garg, DFS boss, said, “We got a call at around 4.45 am about the fire. The group hurried to the spot and 12 fire tenders were sent. The fire spread to a couple of different shops which were destroyed.
It took about 3 hours later to douse the blaze. A preliminary inquiry into the matter showed that around 80 cardboard boxes had caught fire following a short circuit.
